Introduction

Toshitaka Okubo was a samurai of the Satsuma Domain during the mid-Edo period and the sixth head of the Okubo family. His social rank belonged to the minor retainer class (Koshō Yo).

Detailed records regarding his birth and family lineage are limited. According to "Okubo Toshogen Den Jou" by Masuya Katsuta, Toshitaka was born as the legitimate son of Toshimasa, the sixth head of the Okubo family. On the other hand, the genealogical chart of the Okubo family in the "Okubo Toshiroshi Monjo" lists his father as Tatoshi. It is also believed that Toshitaka died while visiting Osaka.

His family’s family temple is Myōtoku-ji in Fukushima Ward, Osaka. Toshimasa died in Edo, and his eldest son Takatake, who served as a magistrate on Osaki Island, died in Amami Oshima. As a result, the Okubo family, for three generations, did not return to Kagoshima Castle Town and died out there.

Toshitaka had multiple descendants. His grandchildren include his second son, Toshisada (son of Jirōsuke; later a vice-admiral in the Imperial Army and head priest of Kirishima Shrine), and his third son, Toshiuro (son of the third generation, grandson of Tetsuyo). His great-great-grandchildren include politician Hisatsugu Sakaizumi (second son, great-grandson of Jirōsuke).

The above information is summarized based on "Katsuta Masuya's 'Okubo Toshiroshi Den Jou'" and related documents, focusing on his birth, family structure, and career.
