Introduction

Fan Chengxiu (February 17, 1922 – November 23, 2021), from Linyi County, Shanxi Province, was the wife of the founding Marshal of the People's Republic of China, Gu Jingsheng. She had five daughters. She was related by marriage to Li Xuifeng's family. Her fourth daughter is Gu Wangjiang. The youngest, Gu Kailai (originally named Xiao Li), is the wife of Bo Xilai.

During the Anti-Rightist Campaign in 1957, she was persecuted as a rightist for defending her friends, and she was also labeled a rightist while pregnant with Gu Kailai. Gu Jingsheng refused to divorce her, which hindered his career throughout his life.

After Bo Xilai was imprisoned in 2012, as an elder cadre, he once wrote a letter to Hu Jintao requesting to see his son-in-law.
