Gary Chaw, born in 1979, is a Mandarin pop singer, songwriter, and music producer.

Regarding his early life, Gary participated in singing competitions for the first time in September 1988 at the age of nine, and in the same year, his family sent him to study abroad in Canada. In 1994, he went to New Zealand alone to pursue further education, choosing civil engineering as his major. By 1997, at the age of 18, he sent demos of his self-produced songs to record labels, gaining some attention. In 1999, he composed three songs for Aaron Kwok's EP "Ask For More," including "Only You," "It's Me," and "My Question You're Not Answering." That same year, Gary returned to Malaysia and entered the Astro New Star Competition, deciding to stay in Malaysia to develop his music career.

In terms of his entertainment career, in 2001, Gary released his first solo album, "Laugh at My Foolishness," followed by the album "Gary Chaw." At age 22, he met music producer David Tu in Singapore, which provided him an opportunity to develop in Taiwan, although he also experienced ups and downs in his life and career. In 2004, he signed with Rock Records, and in 2006, released the album "Gege Blue," which gained wider recognition. The same year, his song "Youth," a collaboration with Michael Wong, won awards for "Best Production" and "Top Original Songs" at the Malaysia Entertainment Awards. In 2007, Gary was nominated for the Best Mandarin Male Singer at the 18th Golden Melody Awards in Taiwan with his album "Superman Super Male Voice." During this period, he also began releasing Cantonese songs such as "Kafka by the Sea" and "Left and Right Unfated," and performed theme songs for Hong Kong radio stations. In 2008, he released a Mandarin album titled "Super Sunshine," which received multiple nominations at the Golden Melody Awards and ultimately won the Best Mandarin Male Singer award. In 2011, Gary starred in the action film "Little Double Heroes." In 2013, he held a personal concert and received the Top Male Singer award at the China Song Chart Awards in Hong Kong and Taiwan.
