Introduction
Changsheng was born on June 21, 1675, and died on March 26, 1677. He was a son of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty. Although he was actually the eighth son of Emperor Kangxi, he was not officially listed in the formal genealogical records due to his early death. His date of birth corresponds to the 21st day of the sixth month in the 14th year of Kangxi's reign, and his mother was Lady Ma. At that time, Emperor Kangxi was twenty-two years old in his nominal age.
Changsheng was born to the same mother as his younger half-brother, Yin Zhi, making them brothers by blood. Changsheng died at the age of three, the cause of death recorded as illness. He passed away on March 26, 1677, during the 16th year of Kangxi's reign.
Most of the records about Changsheng come from the book "Four Genealogical Records of the Qing Imperial Family," which includes information on the births, lives, and deaths of members of the imperial family during Kangxi's era. This text holds some reference value for the imperial genealogy compiled in the Qing Dynasty but lacks extensive details regarding political activities or titles.
Changsheng’s existence reflects the phenomenon during Kangxi's reign where many princes died young and were not included in the official genealogical sequence. The above information has been organized based on the "Four Genealogical Records of the Qing Imperial Family."
