Introduction
Takateru Kuki (born February 17, 1871 (December 28, Meiji 3) – August 21, 1948) was a Japanese aristocrat (Viscount). He was the head of the Mita Kuki family.
Biography
He was born as the eldest son of Takeyoshi Kuki, the last lord of the Mita Domain. During his childhood, he attended Keio Gijuku Elementary School, where his classmates included Shiro Kobayakawa, Goro Mouri, Kinjiro Hirozawa, and Yasco Matsudaira. After graduating from Meiji Gakuin University in 1889 (Meiji 22), he traveled to the United States and graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
In 1891 (Meiji 24), he succeeded to the family headship following his father Takeyoshi's death. After returning to Japan, he resided in Suma, Kobe, and continued his father’s investment activities. He was a major taxpayer in Hyogo Prefecture.
Relatives
His younger sister, Yoshiko, married Kōzō Matsukata, the third son of Masayoshi Matsukata.
He married Fuyumi, the daughter of Tamezuka Kuki.
He had a eldest son, Takateru Kuki, but he did not inherit the family title and passed away in 1928 (Showa 3).
