Introduction
Qian Yanqiu, born in 1967, is a native of Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province, China. His father is Qian Yurun, who served as the chief correspondent stationed at the United Nations and is believed to be related to the renowned scholar Qian Zhongshu. His mother, Wang Ling, is an actress at the China People's Art Theatre (简称 "Ren Yi"). From a young age, Qian Yanqiu showed a strong interest in reading, particularly in comprehensive history books, and developed a broad reading habit.
He attended the Beijing Film Academy in 1987. With his outstanding acting skills, he became friends with classmate Zhang Zijian. The two collaborated on several TV dramas, including "Youth Without Seasons" broadcast in 1988, in which he played Hou Yong. After graduating, Qian Yanqiu gradually developed his career in the film and television industry, engaging in acting, screenwriting, and directing.

In 2000, Qian adapted Chi Li's screenplay into the urban emotional drama "Lipstick," serving as director; the series starred Wu Yue and Guo Tao. That same year, he wrote and directed the revolutionary gunfire drama "Hero," with the first installment starring Zhang Zijian. In 2001, he adapted Zhang Xin's novella into the TV series "Who Can Be Reliant," and also authored the script for "Sui and Tang Dynasties Legends."
In 2002, he wrote, directed, and produced the action-adventure series "Extreme Life and Death," and created the screenplay for the film "Brothers." Subsequently, he demonstrated his talents in costume detective and suspense genres. In 2004, he began shooting the costume mystery series "Detective Dee" (also known as "Godson Detective Dee") series, which includes "Detective Dee (Series I)", "Detective Dee II", "Detective Dee III", and "Godson Dee." He played roles such as Xu Shide and Qi Ge in the series.
In 2009, he wrote and directed the anti-espionage revolutionary drama "Hawk 1949" and the costume mystery series "Godson Dee." In 2011, he directed the revolutionary suspense drama "Flying Tiger and Divine Eagle" and the spy war series "Desert Eagle." In 2012, he completed the anti-Japanese war feature "Plains Fire" and the燕双鹰 ("Yan Shuangying") series "Desert Gun God" and "Hero." During this period, his partnership with Liang Guanhua experienced strains, leading to some of their collaborations ending.
Besides directing and screenwriting, Qian Yanqiu has published numerous novels and screenplay collections, including adaptations of his own "Detective Dee" series. His works are influential for their plot arrangements and stylistic innovations, gaining recognition within the entertainment industry. By 2022, the TV series he supervised, "Di Xiaosi Youming Flying Wolf," had been aired.
In terms of family background, his father was the chief correspondent stationed at the United Nations, and his mother was an actress at Ren Yi. In his personal life, he has a romantic relationship with actress Liu Shuang and has a son, Qian Guanrong, who is also active in the performing arts and has appeared in multiple TV dramas.
