Introduction

Zheng Jun, born on November 6, 1970, in Xi'an, Shaanxi Province, is a Chinese rock singer, music composer, writer, and multimedia artist. His family background is rich in academic atmosphere; his grandfather was a student of the sixth class at Whampoa Military Academy, his maternal grandfather was a chemical engineering engineer, his father was a teacher at Northwest Agricultural College, and his mother was a teacher at Xi'an Highway College. Zheng Jun’s father fell ill and passed away when he was seven years old, and he was raised by his mother and older brother.

He spent his childhood in Xi'an, and later in 1987, he was admitted to Hangzhou Electronic Industrial College (now Hangzhou Dianzi University), majoring in Industrial Foreign Trade. During his studies, Zheng Jun was exposed to a large Beatles, American 1960s and 1970s pop and rock music, including The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. Influenced by these musicians, he gradually developed an interest in music.

During university, Zheng Jun formed a band called "Gunpowder," known for covers of works by Bob Dylan, Cui Jian, Lo Ta-yu, and others, performing at the music hall of Hangzhou Normal University. Over time, his desire to express personal emotions grew stronger, leading him to study music theory intensively and explore original compositions. He gradually shifted from interpretation to self-creation.

In 1992, while preparing to study abroad, Zheng Jun met Guo Chuanlin, manager of Black Panther band, who introduced him to Hongxing Music Society. He subsequently signed as a singer under their label. In the same year, he released his first solo album, "Bare," with all songs written and performed by himself. The album sold over 500,000 copies, becoming China’s highest-selling solo album that year. Its singles, such as "Return to Lhasa," "Bare," and "Elysium," had a wide impact on the Chinese music scene. The song "Bare" won the Central South Ten Golden Songs Award, and in 1996, it received the Golden Music Video Award at the Bulgaria Music Festival.

In 1995, Zheng Jun signed with Zhengyue Tian Company, recording many popular works, including the album "Rock of Goodbye," in collaboration with Black Panther Band and Tang Dynasty Band. In 1997, he released his second album, "The Third Eye," whose lead song, “There Are No Receptions That Never End,” remained high on the charts, solidifying his position in China's pop music scene. That same year, Zheng Jun became the first Chinese singer to appear on the cover of BILLBOARD magazine.

In 1998, Zheng Jun was awarded the title of “Best Male Singer in Shenzhou,” with his works winning numerous domestic and international awards. He signed with EMI Records in Britain in 2001, becoming the first mainland Chinese exclusive songwriter under a major international label. In that year, he released the album "Zheng Jun." In 2003, he founded Beijing Denghuo Cultural Communication Co., Ltd., gradually transforming into a music producer and cultural communicator. His notable works include "Our Lives Are Full of Sunshine" and "Chang'an Chang'an." In 2007, he released the album "Chang'an Chang'an."

Besides music, Zheng Jun has also written novels ("Knife Warm") and manga ("Rock Dónut"), and promoted animation film projects. He also founded an internet music app called "HeYinLi," aimed at advancing online creative music.

In his personal life, Zheng Jun has been married twice. His current wife is actress Liu Yun. They fell in love in 2009, registered for marriage in 2010, and welcomed their son in October 2010. Previously, he was married to university classmate Sun Feng, with whom he has a daughter; they divorced in 2007.

Zheng Jun has also contributed to social公益 and charity performances, receiving numerous music awards, and has become an important figure in China's rock scene.
