Introduction
John Strutt, 2nd Baron Rayleigh of Terling Place, was a British noble who held the title during the 19th century, living from 1796 to 1873. He was the father of John Strutt, 3rd Baron Rayleigh, an English physicist who lived from 1842 to 1919, and was married to Evelyn Strutt, Baroness Rayleigh of Terling Place, who was the daughter of Lady Blanche Gascoyne-Cecil. Lady Blanche Gascoyne-Cecil, who died in 1872, was the mother of Evelyn and the daughter of Lady Blanche Gascoyne-Cecil, the British noble and mother of notable figures including Arthur Balfour, a British Prime Minister and statesman.
