Xu Luxi

Xu Luxi, a researcher of the People's Republic of China, was one of the first batch of master's degree students in China and has achieved remarkable accomplishments in her academic career. The scientific research projects she led have been awarded the First Class Award for National Scientific and Technological Progress, one of the highest honors in China's science and technology field, demonstrating her outstanding contributions to scientific research.

In the early 1980s, Xu Luxi’s family lived in a limited environment, residing in a small house of only 8 square meters. At that time, the country was undergoing housing adjustments for units, a process personally overseen by the then leader Xu Xiangqian to ensure compliance. Xu Luxi recalls that her father, even in old age, still wore patched homemade clothes, a detail that reflects the family’s commitment to integrity and frugality. She believes that her father’s lifestyle and values have had a profound influence on her.

The Xu Xiangqian family emphasized family rules such as “Money belongs to the public, and it should not be spent recklessly” and “One must be honest and upright.” These teachings are regarded by Xu Luxi as her personal credo and have guided her throughout her growth. In a public interview, she stated that her father’s words and deeds motivated her to adhere to the principle that “the road is walked out by oneself,” and to regard honesty, diligence, and integrity as the standards for her career and life.

Through her scientific achievements and family legacy, Xu Luxi embodies a steadfast commitment to scientific spirit and adherence to family values. Her story to some extent reflects the cultivation of talent and value orientation in China’s scientific community, showcasing the important contributions of researchers to the country’s technological development and the influence of family education.
