Andrea Catsimatidis

Andrea Catsimatidis, born on April 17, 1990, is an American politician and business executive. She has served as the chairwoman of the Manhattan Republican Party since 2017.

**Early Life and Education**

Catsimatidis is the daughter of John Catsimatidis and his second wife, Margo Vondersaar, whom he married in October 1988. She has a younger brother named John Catsimatidis Jr. She attended New York University (NYU), where she studied business. During her time at NYU, she served as the chair of the College Republicans organization. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management, along with double minors in Political Science and Communications.

**Career**

In her professional life, Catsimatidis holds executive roles within the Red Apple Group, a company owned by her father. She is a principal of Red Apple Real Estate, serves as Vice President of First Federal Guarantee Insurance Company, and is a managing director of Gristedes supermarkets. These companies are all owned by her father, John Catsimatidis.

**Political Involvement**

Catsimatidis was elected chairwoman of the Manhattan Republican Party in 2017, a position she has maintained since then. In January 2019, she appeared on CNN to discuss matters related to the U.S. government shutdown. In March 2019, the New York Post's journalist Jon Levine described her as a "rising GOP star.” Following the 2020 U.S. presidential election, in which Joe Biden defeated incumbent President Donald Trump, Catsimatidis made unsubstantiated claims regarding election fraud. In November 2020, she questioned whether Joe Biden was planning a coup by attempting to establish a parallel government. In February 2021, she tweeted that "Corporate America helped rig the election.” After the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol by supporters of then-President Trump, Catsimatidis promoted claims suggesting that antifa activists were among the rioters, emphasizing her intention to ensure all evidence was considered for justice.

**Personal Life**

In 2011, Andrea Catsimatidis married Christopher Nixon Cox, the grandson of President Richard Nixon. The wedding took place at the Greek Orthodox Archdiocesan Cathedral of the Holy Trinity and was attended by notable political figures, including Hillary Clinton, Henry Kissinger, Rudolph Giuliani, Charles Schumer, Ray Kelly, and Robert M. Morgenthau. The event included an elaborate black-tie reception held at the Waldorf-Astoria hotel, with approximately 700 guests. Her father reportedly spent over one million dollars on the wedding. The marriage ended in divorce in 2014.
