Cao Sijie

Guo Xiaoling was born in Taiwan and married Cao Sijie in May 2007. She is the daughter of Guo Taiming, the founder of the Hon Hai Group, and graduated from the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of California, Irvine. Guo Xiaoling serves as the head of the Yongling Foundation, an organization established by the Hon Hai Group to handle its charitable activities. Her family background reflects substantial social connections and economic influence.

Among Guo Xiaoling’s family members, her brother Guo Shouzheng played an important role in introducing her to Cao Sijie. Guo Shouzheng is Guo Taiming’s younger brother; he previously worked in the United States and served as a bridesmaid at Guo Xiaoling’s wedding. Notably, Guo Xiaoling lived and studied in the United States and made multiple visits to the Cao family, demonstrating a friendly and generous manner in her interactions.

Cao Sijie was born into the Cao family of Zhejiang, with ancestral roots in Zhejiang province. His family history traces back to the air force, and he has served as an air force pilot. His great-grandfather, Cao Linggen, was a cadet in the 17th class of the Air Force Academy; while in mainland China he served as deputy general manager of Yuanhang, later moved to Taiwan with the Kuomintang government, and ultimately settled in Taoyuan. His grandmother, Sun Meihua, is the grandniece of Sun Ke, the eldest son of Sun Yat-sen. Cao’s father, Cao Yifei, began working in the transportation and technology industries in the 1960s, once served as the head of Honglin Yuntong, and later joined Tianhu Air, earning a certain reputation in the air freight industry.

Within the family, Cao Sijie has a younger brother, Cao Sixing, who is relatively shy and received his education in the United States. The Cao brothers all studied in the U.S. and developed strong independence during their upbringing. Cao Sijie studied electrical engineering at the University of California, Irvine, and displayed strong interpersonal skills during his early years in the U.S. His father, Cao Yifei, is known for his business capabilities and amiable manner; the family members all have good educational backgrounds and social resources.

Regarding their marriage, the union of Cao Sijie and Guo Xiaoling was arranged through the introduction of Guo Shouzheng. After marriage, the Cao and Guo families have maintained good relations. Guo Taiming has said in interviews that he treats his son-in-law in a businesslike manner while holding certain expectations for him. Guo Xiaoling demonstrates warmth and attentiveness within the family, reflecting her solid upbringing and personal qualities.
