Introduction
John Powell Taylor, born in November 1696 in Caroline, Virginia, and deceased in March 1780 in Young, North Carolina, is the son of James Taylor, who lived from 1675 to 1729, and is the grandson of James Taylor (1608-1698). His mother is Frances Taylor (1700-1761), the daughter of James Taylor and the mother of James Madison, Sr., who was an American planter and politician. James Madison, Sr. is the son of Frances Taylor and the father of James Madison, the 4th President of the United States, serving from 1809 to 1817.
