Introduction
King Min Zhu Pian (April 9, 1379 – May 10, 1450), the eighteenth son of Ming Taizu Zhu Yuanzhang, was his mother's son with Consort Zhou. In the twenty-fourth year of Hongwu (1391), he was enfeoffed as King Min, with his domain changed to Yunnan Prefecture. In the twenty-eighth year of Hongwu (1395), his fief was revoked, and he was demoted to a commoner and exiled to Zhangzhou. In the first year of Yongle (1403), he was restored as King Min. In the first year of Hongxi (1425), he was re-enfeoffed as Wugang Prefecture. He died in the first year of Jingtai (1450).
Zhu Pian's wife was Yuan Shi, the daughter of Yuan Hongzhi. She was granted the title of Princess Min in the twenty-eighth year of Hongwu (1395) and passed away in the fifth year of Yongle (1407). They had children Zhu Huiyong and Zhu Huiyan. His concubines included Zhao Shi, who bore Zhu Huiwei; and Su Shi, who bore Zhu Huiyan. Regarding his sons: the eldest legitimate son Zhu Huiyong was the heir of the Min State; the second legitimate son Zhu Huiyan was the King of Gong of Min; the illegitimate son Zhu Huiwei was the King of Jiangchuan Gonghui. There were also sons Zhu Huizhe and Zhu Huiyan who became King of Guangtong and King of Yangzong, respectively.
Among Zhu Pian's descendants, former Premier of the People's Republic of China Zhu Rongji is a seventeenth-generation descendant.
