Introduction
Guangtong Wang Zhu Hui She, whose courtesy name is unknown and whose birth and death dates are not recorded, was a member of the Ming imperial clan. His father was Min Zhuang Wang Zhu Xian, the eighteenth son of Ming Taizu. Zhu Hui She was a grandson of Ming Taizu and came from a prominent family. His brother Zhu Hui Ro served as Min Gong Wang and inherited their father’s title. Zhu Hui She was known for his bravery and strength. His family member, Duan Youhong, was favored due to his skills. After Duan Youhong retired, he prophesied that Zhu Hui She exhibited unusual signs and intended to take the throne, plotting rebellion. Zhu Hui She once issued an edict changing the era name to Xuánwǔ and dispatched Duan Youhong, Meng Neng, and Chen Tian into Miao territory to persuade Miao leaders to submit using silver seals and gold coins. Subsequently, he sent troops to attack Wugang Prefecture. Miao leaders such as Yang Wenbo dared not accept this submission. In October 1451, after the incident, Duan Youhong was captured by Zhu Hui She. The court sent the Grand Secretary Li Shi and dispatched Marshal Attendant Jiao Jing and eunuch Li Cong to summon Zhu Hui She to the capital, where he was stripped of his titles and confined behind high walls. Later, he was sent to Fengyang to guard the imperial tombs. In the second year of Tian Shun (1458), the court granted permission regarding the marriage of his children. In the first year of Hongzhi (1488), the Censorate and the Ministry of Justice discussed whether to release commoners from Fengyang who were imprisoned, mentioning Zhu Hui She’s brother Zhu Hui She, who was involved in the same case, but there was no mention of Zhu Hui She, who had already died.
