Introduction

Ge Jia, born in 1962, is the sister of China's renowned actor Ge You. Her father is the famous Chinese film actor Ge Cunzhuang, who participated in numerous classic films such as "Little Soldier Zhang Ga" and "Red Banner". Her mother, Shi Wenxin, worked as a literary editor at the Beijing Film Studio. Many members of her family are professionals related to the arts.

In 1980, Ge Jia was admitted to the Department of Philosophy at Peking University. After completing her undergraduate studies, she went to Germany for further education, earning a master's degree in German Language and Literature. During her studies, she researched Western philosophical thought and literary theory, laying a foundation for her later literary creations.

In 2004, Ge Jia collaborated with her mother, Shi Wenxin, to publish a memoir titled "All Caught Up". This book adopts a documentary literary approach, recording the artistic careers of three generations of their family, including her father Ge Cunzhuang’s acting experiences and her brother Ge You’s growth story.

In terms of literary creation, Ge Jia received the Newcomer Award at the 4th "Beijing Literature" Award and the 3rd "Beijing Literature: Monthly Fiction Digest" Award in 2009. Her award-winning works are representative of her short and medium-length fiction, reflecting her unique narrative techniques and humanistic care. This award is organized by Beijing Literature Monthly, aimed at discovering and supporting new literary talents.

Since the 1990s, Ge Jia has settled in the United States, mainly engaged in translating Chinese and German literature and cross-cultural communication. Her translation work covers philosophy and dramatic literature, with the aim of promoting contemporary Chinese literature in German-speaking countries. Her efforts in translation and cultural exchange have made her an important bridge in China-Germany cultural relations. Additionally, she actively participates in related writing projects, continuously promoting Sino-German cultural cooperation.

Currently, Ge Jia continues to reside in the United States, working in translation, writing, and cultural exchange activities. Her work in literature and translation has not only advanced Sino-German cultural交流 but also enriched the international influence of contemporary Chinese literature.
