Introduction

Shi Wenxin, birth and death years unknown, graduated from Beijing Film Academy. His career began in 1954, working as an editor at the Scriptwriting Department of the Central Film Bureau for two years. In 1956, he transferred to the Literature Department of Beijing Film Studio, where he held an editorial position and worked there for approximately thirty years.

During his career, Shi Wenxin compiled and published numerous film literary works, including over ten films such as "Red Flag Spectrum," "Mining Lamp," "Unnamed Island," "Colorful Road," "Li Siguang," "Longing Woman’s Inn," and "Ruyi." Additionally, he participated in the creation of film scripts for "Shi Mutlai" and "The Master’s Doors," serving as a screenwriter. His contributions to the industry led to his membership in the Chinese Filmmakers Association.

Family-wise, Shi Wenxin’s spouse was Ge Cunzhuang. His children include a son, Ge You, born in April 1957 as a premature baby who grew up to be quite shy and reserved; and a daughter, Ge Jia. Ge You experienced being sent down to Xin Hua, Hunan, and did not return to Beijing until he was a year and a half old. In kindergarten, he was introverted and not good at performing, but later developed his talents in the arts.

Regarding his education, Ge You did not attend a professional performance or art academy. Instead, influenced by the environment of Beijing Film Academy, he gradually pursued a career in acting. In middle school, he exhibited some mischievous behavior, such as singing in class and writing on the blackboard. The family had a significant impact on his decision to become an actor. Although he was initially not admitted to many well-known schools, he eventually obtained a professional acting opportunity through the recruitment of the General Federation of Literary and Art Circles’ Drama Troupe, becoming a professional stage actor.

He had minimal collaboration with his father, as Ge You held a certain sense of reverence for him. During the filming of "Story of the Editorial Department," Ge You expressed concern that his father might affect his performance. His award-winning work at international film festivals includes "To Live," where his sincere and natural acting style is distinctive and exemplifies his unique acting approach.

Shi Wenxin maintained a stable personal life and family relationships. His children received love and support as they grew, for example, Ge You once bought a piano for the family and installed air conditioning to improve their living conditions. Family members had harmonious relations, and his children would return home for reunions during Spring Festival. Shi Wenxin passed away on the evening of December 25, 2022, at the age of 94.
