Flora Sin

Sin King-yun, mother of Stanley Ho, was born into a prominent Eurasian family in Hong Kong.

Although her family carried mixed European and Chinese heritage, they identified themselves as a Chinese family, tracing their ancestral home through the maternal line to Bao'an, Guangdong. The Sin clan held multiple marital ties with other influential families, including two alliances with the Ho Kai-tung family, one with the Choi Lap-chi family, and one with the Chan Kai-ming family.

Her maternal grandfather, Stephen Hall (Sin Tak-fan), was a well-known early colonial-era lawyer and businessman of British descent. His success and wealth established the Sin family as a prosperous household with a unique blend of Chinese and Western culture.

In her youth, Sin King-yun was admired for her beauty, grace, and refined demeanor, often described as elegant and dignified, befitting a daughter of a wealthy household.

She married Ho Sai-kwong, and together they had Stanley Ho, whose later success in building a business empire was closely tied to the prestige and influence of his mother’s family background.
