Introduction

Princess Anhua was a princess during the Southern Ming period. Her exact birth and death years are unknown, but she is believed to have lived in the 17th century. Due to the lack of detailed records in Southern Ming historical texts, accounts of her life are somewhat confused. A reliable account states that she was the daughter of King Gui, Zhu Changying, and the sister of Emperor Yongli Zhu Yuling. She was also the elder sister of Princess Guangde.

During the exile of the Yongli court, she is said to have stayed in Fuzhou Guichao (now Guichao Town, Fumin County, Yunnan Province). Others suggest she may have also stayed in Gelao Rural, Guangnan (now Tai Ping Village, Lian Cheng Town, Guangnan County, Yunnan Province).

After Emperor Yongli was executed, she died of grief. Her tomb is located in Gelao Rural and is called "Tomb of Princess Anhua of the Ming Gui Gong Wang Mansion." Each year, on the first Ren day of the fourth lunar month, local people hold a memorial ceremony called "Jie Huang Gu," and a Princess Guimen Temple is built in front of her tomb.
