Introduction
Princess Isako (Isako-Joō, October 17, 1885 – September 22, 1886) was a member of the Japanese imperial family during the Meiji era. She was the first child born to Prince Kinmochi Saionji and Princess Tsugutako.
Life
On October 17, 1885, at 6:00 p.m., Princess Isako was born as the eldest daughter of Prince Kinmochi Saionji and Princess Tsugutako. Following her birth, a royal naming ceremony (Gonana-yoyatsu) was held on October 23, during which she was given the name “Isako.”
On September 22, 1886, Princess Isako developed hydrocephalus. Despite medical treatment, she passed away on September 30 of the same year. She was less than one year old in age, but her actual age was two years.
