Introduction
Wakiko Ōkubo, born in May 1891, is the daughter of Takahashi Korekiyo, a Japanese politician who lived from 1854 to 1936. She is married to Toshikata Ōkubo, the son of Ōkubo Toshimichi, a prominent figure regarded as one of the founders of modern Japan who lived from 1830 to 1878. Wakiko's familial connections also extend through her daughter Yukiko Yoshida, who was the daughter of Makino Nobuaki, a Japanese politician (1861–1949), and the wife of Shigeru Yoshida, who served as Prime Minister of Japan and lived from 1878 to 1967.
