Mary Cooper was the mother of James Fairlie Cooper, who served as superintendent of the Dahlonega Mint. She was also the mother of Thomas Abthorpe Cooper, who was an American actor, and Priscilla Cooper Tyler, who served as First Lady of the United States from 1842 to 1844. Priscilla Cooper Tyler was married to Robert Tyler, the son of President John Tyler. Robert Tyler held the position of Confederate Register of the Treasury during the American Civil War.
