Chen Kangdi

Chen Kangdi (English name: Constance) was born in Hong Kong on October 4, 2004. Her father is Eason Chan, and her mother is Xu Haoying. Eason Chan released his tenth-anniversary solo EP Life Continues in February 2006, with the cover featuring a photo taken of Kangdi.

Chronology

- June 2007: Kangdi and her mother attended a children’s variety show together and performed a stage play.

- March 20, 2010: Xu Haoying accompanied Kangdi to attend Eason Chan’s 2010 concert and cheered him on.

- July 13, 2011: Mother and daughter attended an eco-fashion event by Rody x Johanna Ho in matching mother-daughter outfits; before the event began, Kangdi was knocked down and injured by another child, and Xu Haoying immediately took her daughter home.

- August 6, 2012: Kangdi appeared in her father’s music video “Baby Song.”

- September 2014: Kangdi performed at the Sheung Wan Cultural and Entertainment Centre in Hong Kong.

Education and growth

Kangdi’s upbringing has been a joint focus of her parents. Xu Haoying arranged her studies and deportment training. She attended Diocesan Girls’ Primary School and studied ballet, ice skating, and yoga. From a young age, she participated in various extracurricular activities and trained in ballet. In 2013 and 2014, Kangdi took part in endorsements and Disney-related activities and other public appearances.

- 2019: Media reports linked Kangdi to a dating rumor after she was seen holding hands with a boy on the street. In May 2019, Kangdi and her mother Xu Haoying were photographed out together, with reports noting that Kangdi had already surpassed her mother in height.

- November 2020: Kangdi attended Carina Lau’s birthday party with her parents.

- December 2022: Kangdi and her mother went to the Hong Kong Coliseum to cheer Eason Chan at his concert, performing the track “Fear and Dreams.”

Professional debut and signing

- May 20, 2025: Media reported that Kangdi had debuted and signed with Warner Records, joining the “Warner Family”; details about songs to be released were to be announced later.

- June 23, 2025: Warner Music Hong Kong officially announced Kangdi’s formal joining; on June 26 that year, her debut single “doll,” which she contributed to, was released across all platforms.

Origin of the name

Kangdi’s Chinese name was not directly chosen by her parents; it came from the inspiration of a friend, Wyman Wong, who described “Kangdi” as a transliteration of the director Visconti’s name from the film Death in Venice. Her father keeps a close eye on Kangdi’s future development, while her mother cultivates her with fashion and social resources. Her English name is Constance, meaning elegance and poise.
