Introduction
Xu Haoying, a Hong Kong actress, entered the entertainment industry in 1993 as a model. In the same year she collaborated with Andy Lau on the music videos “Thank You for Your Love” and “Once in a Lifetime,” and served as a guest performer at five of Lau’s concerts. In August 1993 she appeared in the romance film Tianchang Dijiu, directed by Jeffrey Lau, portraying Li Zhiyin. In April 1994 she co-starred with Jimmy Lin in Whirlwind Kid, playing Pearl, which propelled her to fame. She later appeared in 999: Who Is the Murderer and Youth Sparks. In 1995 she signed with TVB; that year she also participated in a Hong Kong Radio program called “Putonghua Drama in Drama.”
From 1996 to 1997, Xu Haoying gradually appeared in a range of works, including The God of Wealth Descends, At the End of the World, The True Destiny Master, and Special Forces. In June 1998, she co-starred in the costume drama The Deer and the Cauldron with Jordan Chan and Moses Ma, playing Fang Yi; this role is regarded as one of her major representative works. In 1999 she appeared as Zhang Xiaotong in Detective Investigation Files IV. She gradually faded from the entertainment industry toward the end of the 1990s. In 2006, the TVB Jade channel aired the sitcom Old Fung’s Diary. In 2003 she worked as a fashion-store buyer. In 2008 a watch brand named her the “most stylish female entertainer in Hong Kong’s entertainment circle,” and she co-founded her own brand with designer He Zien. In 2009 she opened her own fashion store, which ceased operations in 2018. In 2010 she attended the launch party for the Joyce brand in Central as a guest. In 2011 she collaborated with 思加图 to launch the 2011 Autumn/Winter limited-edition women’s shoes, personally taking part in the interpretation/presentation. In 2015 she appeared in Aaron Kwok’s music video “Merry Christmas,” and in 2016 she participated in the program 有種信念,別跑.
Personal life: In 1996 she began dating singer Eason Chan, and they began living together in 1997. In October 2004 they welcomed a daughter, Chen Kangting. On March 23, 2006, they held a wedding at a Deep Water Bay club. Regarding public incidents, in 2011 there were reports from a restaurant employee of suspected drug use; the police intervened and launched related investigations. A 2012 official report stated that the multi-person involvement event was denied; Xu Haoying and her collaborators publicly responded and filed reports. In July 2012, Xu Haoying caused discussion over a paparazzi-related incident involving her family; she posted a response on Weibo, then deleted it and posted again, stressing her wish to be understood regarding private space.
