Zhu Fangxu, styled Hesheng, was a native of Tangpo in Ansha Township, Changsha, Hunan, and a descendant of Zhu Qian, Prince of Min, the eighteenth son of Emperor Zhu Yuanzhang, founder of the Ming dynasty.
He was the grandfather of Zhu Rongji, former Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China.
The generational character 'Fang' in his name follows the naming sequence established by Emperor Zhu Yuanzhang for the descendants of the Prince of Min, reflecting the continuation of the Zhu clan’s lineage rules.
His son, Zhu Kuanshu (courtesy name Xisheng), father of Zhu Rongji, died before Rongji’s birth, making the future premier a posthumous child.
As a key figure in the Tangpo Zhu branch, Zhu Fangxu’s lineage preserved the heritage of the Min royal descendants in Hunan and ultimately produced one of modern China’s most prominent leaders.
