Introduction

Bandi (in Mongolian: Банди), birth year unknown, died in 1647. He was a member of the Borjigit clan, of Mongolian ethnicity, from the Aohan tribe, and a 21st-generation descendant of Genghis Khan. His lineage includes being the great-grandson of Namik, the great-grandson of Beima Tushitu, grandson of Daqing Duwen, and son of Saichen Zhuo Litu.

In the first year of Tiencong (1627), he pledged allegiance to the Later Jin along with his father. In the fifth year of Tiencong (1631), he participated in the campaign against the Ming Dynasty at Dalinghe, defeating the Kuaizhou reinforcements. In the sixth year of Tiencong (1632), he was involved in the campaign against the Chahar tribe, capturing the Ming garrisons at Nhuánhuàchéng and Xuānfǔ. In the seventh year of Tiencong (1633), he married Gulan Princess, the eldest daughter of Hong Taiji, becoming a Gulan consort. In the first year of Chongde (1636), he was granted the title of Zasak Doruggun Khan. In the third year of Chongde (1638), in February, he accompanied the campaign against the Kalka tribe Zasak Tu Khan from Xing'an Ridge to Dengnusutai. In September, he fought against the Ming, reaching Jinan in Shandong. In the fourth year of Chongde (1639), he took part in the campaign with Emperor Taiji against Songshan. In the sixth year of Chongde (1641), he laid siege to Jinzhou in the Ming Dynasty, and met Ming reinforcements at Songshan, where both the Red Flag and Blue Flag banners were attacked by Ming troops but repelled. In the third year of Shunzhi (1646), he followed Prince Yuyu Dodo in pursuing Sunite forces to Zaji Brak, defeating the reinforcements of Tushitu Khan and Chechen Khan.

After Bandi's death, his son Mergen Batulu Winbu inherited his title.
