Introduction
Elezhetmuer Erke Baji, born in 1747, was a descendant of the Boren Jigit clan of the Mongol ethnicity. His father, Sebuteng Barejuer, was a prince, and his mother was Princess Gulun Hejing, a daughter of Emperor Qianlong, making him the emperor’s maternal grandson. His name signifies good fortune and longevity, unwavering will, and the value of treasures.
In 1772 (the 37th year of Qianlong’s reign), he assumed the title of Tuluo Beile (general noble). In 1775 (the 40th year), he was appointed to the position of Xian San Tuluo (an administrative title) of the Left Wing of the Khorchin Mongol banners. In 1778 (the 43rd year), he married a county princess (the granddaughter of Prince Heng and daughter of Hongqian), and was granted the title of Gushan Efu (a Mongolian noble title). In 1782 (the 47th year), he was appointed as a bannerman of the Xuanghuang flag and served as a Mongolian commander. In 1784 (the 49th year), he was officially granted hereditary nobility. In 1790 (the 55th year), he resigned due to illness, being considered as neglecting duties, and there were reports during this period of misconduct, with suspicion of mental illness.
In 1791 (the 56th year), he was dismissed from his position due to crimes and was placed under the supervision of Yiling Ayangan, the chief steward of the princess’s residence, with a prohibition on drinking. However, he was released one month later and still held official rank, walking outside the Qianqingmen (the Qianqing Gate) as a form of penance. He died in 1793 at the age of 46, leaving no issue; his successor was Elezhe Yitu.
In terms of portrayals in film and television, the series "Ruyi's Royal Love in the Palace" features an actor named Tang Jiae playing this character, with the role named Qing You.
