Wang Shiguang (original name Wang Guangjie, born June 5, 1915, in Beijing), was a native of Tianjin. In 1931, he entered the Affiliated Middle School of Beijing Normal University, later studying in the Electrical Engineering Department at Tsinghua University, developing a strong interest in radio technology. In 1938, he joined the Chinese Communist Party and organized underground radio stations in Tianjin to transmit intelligence, earning him the reputation as "The Everlasting Radio Waves of Northern China." During the War of Resistance, he repaired communication equipment and established a radio training class. During the Civil War, he set up a communication materials factory, developed landmine detectors and the Handan Radio Station, making significant contributions to the victory of the war. After the founding of the People's Republic, he served as Deputy Director of the Telecommunications Industry Bureau of the Ministry of Heavy Industry, promoted the development of the electronic industry, and supported the Korean War. During the Cultural Revolution, he was persecuted and released in 1974; in 1977, he was reinstated and led the development of electronic equipment for China’s "Two Bombs, One Satellite" program. In 1982, he was appointed Chief Engineer of the Ministry of Electronics Industry; he retired in 1988 but continued to contribute to the electronic industry. He passed away in 2003, with national leaders highly praising his contributions and spirit. His deeds were adapted into the television drama "The Everlasting Radio Waves," which received widespread respect from society.
