Hallie Olivere Biden

Hallie K. Biden (née Olivere) was born on July 6, 1973, in Greenville, Delaware. She is the daughter of Louis Ronald "Ron" Olivere and Joan Berger, the latter of whom lived from 1945 to 2022. Joan Berger was of Jewish descent and was a childhood friend of Joe Biden. Her mother owned a drycleaning business.

Biden attended the Tatnall School, a private college preparatory school near Wilmington, Delaware. She later worked as an admissions counselor at the Tatnall School, her alma mater, and as a guidance counselor at Archmere Academy in Claymont, Delaware.

In her personal life, Biden began dating Joseph Robinette "Beau" Biden III in 1998. Beau Biden was the son of Joe Biden, the 46th President of the United States, and Neilia Hunter Biden. The couple became engaged during a family Thanksgiving celebration in Nantucket and married in 2002. They had two children: a daughter, Natalie Naomi Biden, born in 2004, and a son, Robert Hunter Biden II, born in 2006. The Biden family resided in Wilmington, Delaware, during Beau Biden's tenure as the Attorney General of Delaware.

In 2015, Beau Biden died from glioblastoma, a type of brain cancer. Following his death, Hallie Biden served as the chairwoman of the board of directors for the Beau Biden Foundation for the Protection of Children, an organization dedicated to protecting children from abuse.

After her husband's death, Biden maintained close ties with the Biden family. She was involved in encouraging Joe Biden to run in the 2016 presidential election, consulted him prior to his 2020 campaign launch, and attended Mass with the family at St. Joseph on the Brandywine.

From 2016 to 2019, Biden was publicly known to have had a romantic relationship with Hunter Biden, her brother-in-law, who was undergoing separation from his wife, Kathleen Buhle. During this period, she and Hunter Biden relocated to Annapolis, Maryland, with her children. Their relationship ended in 2019.

In March 2019, the Key School filed a lawsuit against Biden for failing to pay $55,740 in tuition for her children for the 2018–19 school year, which was settled in October 2019.

In 2024, she married John Hopkins Anning.
