Li Mei

Li Mei was born in China on January 16, 1932. Her family members include her maternal grandfather Liao Zhongkai, her maternal grandmother He Xiangning, her father Li Shaoshi, her mother Liao Mengxing, and her uncle Liao Chengzhi. Her spouse is Chen Si, and their children include a son, Chen Ping, and a daughter, Chen Xiaoyan. Additionally, she has a cousin, Liao Hui, and Liao Ping.

At the age of ten, Li Mei was recognized as a goddaughter by Zhou Enlai. In her early years, she worked as an actress at the Beijing People's Art Theatre. In 1954, she enrolled at Beijing Foreign Studies University to study. Later, she worked as a Russian translator at the Xinhua News Agency and was responsible for research on American and British films at the China Film Association. During this period, she participated in translating the Russian version of Volume V of "Quotations from Chairman Mao," served as an editor for the "Russian-Chinese Translation Dictionary," and was also a contributor to the "World Film Appreciation Dictionary."

Regarding her career, Li Mei primarily engaged in translation and film research, focusing on Russian and American/British cinema. Her work in translation and academic research contributed to China's language services and film culture development.
