Introduction
Catharine Ponsonby, who died in 1827, was the daughter of Lady Elizabeth Cavendish, who lived from 1723 to 1796. Lady Elizabeth Cavendish was the daughter of Catherine Cavendish, Duchess of Devonshire. William Cavendish, the 4th Duke of Devonshire and a former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, was also a descendant of Catherine Cavendish, Duchess of Devonshire.
