Zhang Xiuling

Zhang Xiuling is the wife of He Guoqiang, former member of the CCP Politburo Standing Committee and former Secretary of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection. She and He Guoqiang were classmates at Beijing University of Chemical Technology, where they first met. Later, they both worked at the Lunan Fertilizer Plant, where their relationship deepened and eventually led to marriage.

Throughout He Guoqiang’s political career, Zhang Xiuling provided steady and quiet support. When He was assigned to Fujian, she transferred to work at a local chemical plant, where she remained until her retirement. Though she has kept a low profile, she has played a central role in supporting her family.

As a wife, she and He Guoqiang shared a close and respectful relationship. Whenever He traveled on official duty, she would remind his secretary to pay attention to his health. On her birthdays, He personally made arrangements. On their 40th wedding anniversary, He Guoqiang specially organized a symbolic wine tower ceremony with her to celebrate their “ruby wedding,” a gesture reflecting their deep affection.

He Guoqiang has mentioned to staff that his wife sacrificed much in order to support his work. Zhang Xiuling has not only been the heart of their family but also a steadfast partner behind He Guoqiang’s long political career.
