Cornelius Kortright was a New York merchant who lived circa 1704 to 1745. He was the father of Lawrence Kortright, who was born around 1728 and died before 1794. Lawrence Kortright was the father of Elizabeth Monroe, who became the wife of James Monroe, the President of the United States from 1817 to 1825, and served as First Lady during his presidency.
