Introduction
Lin Xiefu was a native of Linjia Dawancun, Huilong Town, Huanggang County, Hubei Province. He was born in the late Qing dynasty and died in 1943. He was a member of the Baiyangshan Lin family, the father of Lin Yunan, and the uncle of Lin Biao. In his early years, he followed his second brother Lin Junqing to Hankou to open a cloth shop, which became the main source of income for the family.
Lin Xiefu engaged in business in Hankou for many years and later returned to his hometown, where he married a woman surnamed Hua. They had a son, Lin Yunan, whom he raised with an emphasis on education. Lin Yunan later studied at the Zhonghua University Affiliated Middle School in Wuchang.
Lin Xiefu was known for his diligence and frugality, traveling frequently between Hankou and Huanggang to manage his fabric business. He maintained close relations with his extended family, including the branches of Lin Shilang and Lin Shixi, all belonging to the same ancestral lineage.
During the Second Sino-Japanese War, Lin Xiefu continued to live in the Huanggang area. He passed away from illness in his later years at over seventy years old. After his death, his descendants remained in the region, and the life and deeds of his son Lin Yunan were later recorded in modern Chinese historical materials.
