Chen Ting

Chen Ting, born on September 30, 1981, is from Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province. Her parents are laid-off workers, and her family background is ordinary. During her childhood, Chen Ting studied dance at a少年宫 dance class. In 1999, she worked as a dancer in a coal mine art troupe. That same year, she participated in an audition for the film "Happiness Time," directed by Zhang Yimou, and was selected to enter the entertainment industry.

While attending Beijing Film Academy, Chen Ting played minor roles in various productions. Her acting career gradually gained experience, and by 2016, she portrayed Bai Huizi in the TV drama "War of the Roses," directed by Zhuang Xunxin, starring Zhang Duo, Li Caihua, and Jin Xuan'er. "War of the Roses" was broadcast in Vietnam on August 6, 2016.

Chen Ting first met Zhang Yimou in 1999 during the "Happiness Time" audition, where she was introduced to the renowned Chinese director. Not long after they met, they fell in love and officially registered their marriage in 2011. Zhang Yimou is a well-known Chinese film director with numerous acclaimed films.

Chen Ting and Zhang Yimou have three children: their eldest son Zhang Yinan, born in 2001; their second son Zhang Yiding, born in 2004; and their youngest daughter Zhang Yijiao, born in 2006, all in Beijing. In 2012, rumors circulated online alleging that Chen Ting had given birth to more children than legally permitted, prompting public attention. In December 2013, Zhang Yimou publicly acknowledged that they had two sons and one daughter and apologized to the public. Subsequently, in February 2014, the couple paid approximately 7.4878 million RMB in social upbringing and family planning fees to the Population and Family Planning Bureau of Binhai District, Wuxi City.

Apart from her family life, Chen Ting's social media accounts once carried a verified "Zhang Yimou's Wife" badge, but this was removed on February 25, 2022. She explained that the verification was applied for with the help of her studio staff to avoid confusion with others of the same name, and she has now requested its cancellation.

Chen Ting's career in entertainment mainly focuses on supporting roles and voice acting. Her notable works include the film and TV series she participated in. She appeared in the 2016 TV drama "War of the Roses," broadcast in Vietnam. Additionally, she studied at Beijing Film Academy, where she accumulated considerable acting experience.
