Naomi Biden

Joe Biden is an American politician who served as the 46th president of the United States from 2021 to 2025. Prior to his presidency, he served as the vice president under President Barack Obama from 2009 to 2017. Biden has a familial background with origins primarily in the British Isles, including Ireland and England, with some ancestors from France. Among his sixteen great-great-grandparents, ten were born in Ireland, specifically from County Mayo and County Louth. One great-great-great-grandfather was born in Sussex, England, and immigrated to Maryland by 1820.

Biden's first marriage was to Neilia Hunter Biden. They married on August 27, 1966, and resided in Wilmington, Delaware. They had three children: Naomi Christina "Amy," Joseph "Beau" R. He worked at the U.S. Department of Justice and was elected Delaware Attorney General in 2006, winning re-election in 2010. Beau Biden married Hallie Olivere in 2002. He was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2013 and died from the disease on May 30, 2015, at age 46.

Hunter Biden, the second son from Biden's first marriage, was born on February 4, 1970, in Wilmington. Like his brother, he was injured in the 1972 car crash. Hunter attended Georgetown University, earning a BA in history in 1992, and graduated from Yale Law School in 1996 after transferring from Georgetown University Law Center. He married Kathleen Buhle in 1993; they divorced in 2017. In 2019, Hunter married Melissa Cohen. He held a senior position at MBNA America, a bank holding company, and his activities have been subject to political scrutiny, particularly concerning his connections with Burisma in Ukraine.

In 2024, Hunter Biden pleaded guilty to federal tax evasion charges. On December 1, 2024, President Biden issued a full pardon covering federal offenses committed between January 1, 2014, and December 1, 2024, including tax and gun charges. The pardon was controversial and criticized by some members of Congress.

Biden’s third child, Naomi "Amy" Biden, was born on November 8, 1971. She died at age one in the 1972 car crash. Ashley Blazer Biden, born on June 8, 1981, is his only child from his second marriage. She attended Wilmington Friends School.
