Fan Jiang

Fanjiang Suzhen, born in Taiwan, bears the compound surname Fanjiang. She trained as a professional dancer from a young age. At 13 she joined the Cloud Gate Dance Theatre of Taiwan, and at 16 she was admitted to the Juilliard School (Julia Dance Academy) in the United States, later continuing her dance studies in France. In 1996 she returned to Taiwan and worked as a program producer for a media company.

In 1997, through work she met Zhong Zhen-tao; at that time Zhong had not yet divorced his ex-wife. Fanjiang described herself as his assistant. In 1998 the couple moved to a modest residence in Hong Kong. In 1999 Zhong Zhen-tao announced his divorce from ex-wife Zhang Xiaohui, and Fanjiang became his girlfriend. During this period Zhong faced a divorce and debt problems; Fanjiang helped shoulder nearly half of the debts and opened a second-hand clothing and jewelry shop in Sanlitun, Beijing, developing entertainment derivative industries. Through their efforts Zhong Zhen-tao cleared the debts by 2006.

On August 4, 2004, Fanjiang gave birth to a daughter, Zhong Yi, who was delivered by cesarean due to the baby’s large size. In 2010 she gave birth to another daughter, Zhong Guo; Zhong Zhen-tao accompanied her to the hospital and took photos in the delivery room. Fanjiang cared for Zhong Zhen-tao’s children as well as his ex-wife’s children; stepdaughter Zhong Jiating (Zhong Jiaqing) was raised by Fanjiang and maintained a close relationship with her stepmother, and the stepson Zhong Jiaju (Zhong Jiajun) also got along well.

In November 2011, Zhong Zhen-tao publicly proposed on a television program and promised to hold a wedding the following year. On August 25, 2014, the couple held their wedding in Bali, with many stars in attendance. In May 2015 they held a subsequent wedding banquet in Wan Chai, Hong Kong.

In September 2009, Fanjiang attended an event in Hong Kong when she was five months pregnant. In 2011 she had a dispute with Zhang Xiaowan, the ex-wife’s sister, in the lobby of their residence and was taken to the police station for questioning; during the incident Zhong Jiaqing and Zhong Jiajun expressed support for their stepmother.

In recent years, activities include: in April 2021, Fanjiang participated with her stepdaughter Zhong Jiaqing in the reality show “Mom, You Look So Good”; in 2022 she appeared with Zhong Zhen-tao on the reality show “Chasing the Wind Riders.” In November 2020 she was invited to attend the Hong Kong Police College graduation ceremony.

In 2024, Zhong Yi released a personal single and participated in a music variety show. On June 5, 2025, Zhong Zhen-tao announced that Zhong Yi had officially debuted, appearing on “The Sparkling Summer” Season 2. On July 1, 2025, Zhong Yi was admitted to the Beijing Film Academy’s Directing Department as a graduate student; Zhong Zhen-tao and Fanjiang were on site to accompany and await the admission results.
