Introduction

David Scott (1689 – 1 December 1766) was a Scottish Member of Parliament associated with Scotstarvit. He was the son of David Scott of Scotstarvit, who died in 1718.

Scott represented Fife in the Parliament of Great Britain, beginning his service in 1741. He held the parliamentary seat for Fife for ten years. In 1751, he was elected to serve as Member of Parliament for Aberdeen, a position he maintained until his death in 1766.

He was married to Lucy, the daughter of Sir Robert Gordon. Together, they had multiple children. Their eldest son and heir was David Scott of Scotstarvit, who died without leaving any issue. Other children included Major-General John Scott, a British Army officer who died in 1776, and a daughter named Marjory. Marjory married David Murray, who was the 5th Viscount of Stormont.
