Wu Jiaqing, born in 1912 and passed away in 2011, was a native of Liujiawan, Changlinhe Town, Feidong County, Hefei City, Anhui Province. She was the wife of Wu Zhongxing, a renowned Chinese survey cartographer. Since 1929, Wu Jiaqing married Wu Zhongxing, and the couple had seven children: four sons—Wu Bangjie (born in 1934), Wu Bangguo (born in 1941), Wu Bangsheng (born in 1943), Wu Bangfu (born in 1944)—and three daughters—Wu Huizhong (born in 1949), Wu Huizhen (born in 1952), and Wu Huiwen (born in 1955).
During the Anti-Japanese War, the family's economic conditions were relatively difficult. The primary source of income was Wu Zhongxing’s monthly salary, which was limited. To supplement their livelihood, family members engaged in small trades, digging land, and farming vegetables. Wu Jiaqing practiced frugality in managing the household and was skilled at financial management to ensure the family’s basic needs for warmth and food. To support her husband's work and maintain family stability, she often prepared delicious dishes for lunch every day and brought them to her husband, demonstrating her attentive care for the family.
Although living in the countryside, Wu Jiaqing possessed strong insight and resilience. During times of national crisis, her strength and perseverance became the pillar of the family, supporting her husband, elderly mother-in-law, and young children. Her life included moving across various regions such as Pingba County in Guizhou Province, Guiyang City, Chongqing City, and Leshan in Sichuan Province. She accompanied her family through different living environments, adapting to diverse settings.
In terms of family relations, Wu Jiaqing lived with her father-in-law Wu Xianfang and maintained a stable marriage with her husband Wu Zhongxing. Throughout her life, she was diligent and thrifty, contributing greatly to the stability of the family and the growth of her children. She was selfless and dedicated, practicing her responsibilities and commitment to her family through her actions.
