Wu Zhongxing (March 26, 1912 – June 1999), courtesy name Wu Jiají, was born in Dongxiang Wu Xingyi (Yi) Village, Fenyang County, Hefei, Anhui Province. He was an educator in cartography in China, a director of the China Society for Geospatial Information, head of the Beijing Society for Surveying and Mapping, deputy editor-in-chief of the Journal of Surveying and Mapping, a member of the Academic Committee of the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, a member of the National Map Compilation Committee, a member of the Scientific and Technological Committee of the General Surveying and Mapping Bureau of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, and a member of the editorial board of China Encyclopedia of Surveying and Mapping. He was also the father of Wu Bangguo, who served as chairman of the Standing Committee of the 10th and 11th National People's Congresses.
