Introduction
Gulbusha (?—1661), of the Borjigit clan, was a Mongolian official of the Qing Dynasty. He belonged to the Manchu Bordered Yellow Banner and was originally a Tümed Mongolian leader under the Khorchin banner. His activities were centered around the city along the Xilamuren River.
In the sixth year of the Tianming reign (1621), in November, he allied with Tümed leader Mangur by leading 600 households to defect and submit to Nurhaci of Later Jin. He was richly honored and rewarded, marrying Nurhaci's daughter, Songgutu Gege, thereby becoming a noble consort. He was granted the name Qingzhuoliket, bestowed the top military rank of First-Class General, and appointed to oversee the Manchu and Mongolian Niulü units, serving under the Manchu Bordered Yellow Banner.
In the fifth year of the Tiancang reign (1631), he accompanied Emperor Taizong (Hongtaiji) to siege the city of Dalinghe. When the Mongolian left flank soldiers fought poorly, he was punished but later was pardoned. Subsequently, he was promoted to serve as a Deputy Secretary General at the Ministry of War. In the third year of the Chongde reign (1638), the official system was reformed, and he was appointed as a Right Vice-Minister of War. He participated in military campaigns such as the sieges of Jinzhou and Ningyuan. In the early years of the Shunzhi reign (post-1644), he followed the Qing army into China to suppress peasant rebellions.
He died in January of the eighteenth year of the Shunzhi reign (1661), and was posthumously honored with the temple name "Minxiang." According to the *Draft History of Qing* (Qing Shi Gao), volume 229, his life and deeds are recorded as part of the official historical records.
