Introduction

Liu Mingwei, male. His father is Liu Luan-hung and his mother is Bao Yongqin.

In 2006 he returned to Hong Kong and joined his father’s Chinese Estates Holdings Group, serving as Investor Relations Manager. On December 15, 2006, he joined the board of Chinese Estates as an Executive Director, and subsequently became chairman of the group’s listed subsidiary Jin Kuang (0286).

On July 4, 2007, he was granted the title of Honorary Trustee of Peking University, becoming the youngest Honorary Trustee in the university’s history. On October 31, 2008, he resigned as an Executive Director of Chinese Estates to become a Non-Executive Director, citing the need to accompany his wife who was in childbirth.

On March 14, 2014, he was appointed Chairman of Chinese Estates, Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and authorized representative, and transferred from Non-Executive Director to Executive Director; on April 15, it was announced that the Acting CEO would be promoted to CEO, with the promotion effective immediately.

In June 2020, while serving as Chairman and Non-Executive Director of Chinese Estates, Liu Mingwei transferred about 476 million Chinese Estates shares held through Century Frontier Limited to a company controlled by Chan Ka-yun (also known as Gambi) of SolarBright Limited, with no disclosure of consideration. On June 26, 2020, he was appointed Chairman of the Board of Hong Kong Ocean Park Company Limited, serving from July 1, 2020 to June 30, 2021.

Personal life: In 2001 he married Wendy, a descendant of overseas Chinese, in London, United Kingdom. In 2008 Wendy became pregnant, with a due date in early 2009. In December 2010 he publicly disclosed that he and Wendy had personality differences and had been separated for about a year, and were proceeding with a divorce. In September 2011 he began dating a new girlfriend; she appeared visibly pregnant, estimated to be at least five months along. In October 2020, Hong Kong media reported that after breaking up with host Zhao Huinai in October 2019, he began a relationship with Jian Xuexin and they began living together. On March 22, 2022, Liu Mingwei posted a photo on his personal social media showing him embracing his newlywed wife.

Other publicly available information indicates that Liu Mingwei is multilingual, holds a commercial civil aviation pilot license, and serves as a part-time flight instructor. In 2007, he donated HK$50 million to Peking University for teaching and research facilities. His family has long been active in philanthropy; his parents donated nearly HK$2 billion to public welfare in 2007.
