Introduction
Li Jinlong (1899 – April 19, 1995) was a native of Sanzhi Township, Taipei County, Taiwan (now Sanzhi District, New Taipei City). He was the father of former Republic of China President Lee Teng-hui. During the Japanese rule of Taiwan, he served as a police officer and changed his name to "Iwani Ryūta." After World War II, he served as a member of the 4th and 5th Taipei County Council, a member of the Sanzhi Protocol Conference, chairman of the Sanzhi Farmers’ Association, a member of the Leasehold Committee, an executive member of the Tamsui Irrigation Association of Taiwan Province, a member of the Sanzhi Volunteer Service Association, and a member of the Agricultural Extension Education Counseling Committee, among other positions.
He was known by many nicknames including "Laozi," "Sanjiaozi Jinlong" (Three-legged Jinlong), "Detective Li," "Red-Nosed Jinlong," and "Old Dad."
