Introduction
Caroline Fox was the daughter of Mary Fox, 2nd Baroness Holland, and Lady Evelyn Leveson-Gower, who was the daughter of John Leveson-Gower, 1st Earl Gower, and Lady Evelyn Pierrepont. Mary Fox, 2nd Baroness Holland, was a British noblewoman, and Lady Evelyn Leveson-Gower lived from 1724 to 1763. Louisa Petty, Countess of Shelburne, the wife of William Petty, 2nd Earl of Shelburne, was also a daughter of Lady Evelyn Leveson-Gower. William Petty, 2nd Earl of Shelburne, served as British Prime Minister from 1737 to 1805, and Louisa Petty, Countess of Shelburne, was his second wife. Caroline Fox lived from 1767 to 1845 and was known as a diarist and correspondent.
