Luo Yuying

Ruo Yuying, born in the 20th century, is the only daughter of Marshal Luo Ronghua of the Chinese People's Liberation Army and his first wife, Yan Yue'e. Her father, Luo Ronghua, joined the Chinese Communist Party during the revolution and participated in numerous revolutionary activities. Regarding family changes, after Luo Ronghua and Yan Yue'e divorced, Yan Yue'e insisted on remaining in the Luo household to raise their daughter. Meanwhile, Luo Ronghua, who started a new family with Lin Yueqin, continued to care about Ruo Yuying's growth and education.

After the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949, Ruo Yuying requested her father to arrange for her to work in Beijing. However, Luo Ronghua declined, citing her lack of sufficient conditions, and suggested that she first receive a cultural education. In 1950, the entire family moved to Beijing. Subsequently, Ruo Yuying received grassroots labor training at a farm in the southern suburbs of Beijing to improve her skills. During this period, her father sent her multiple letters emphasizing the principles of "not having a mindset of enjoying privileges" and "children's education provided by the state."

During her time working at the farm, Ruo Yuying mainly engaged in grassroots labor and joined the Chinese Communist Party, becoming a party member. Later, she was transferred to work at the Beijing South Suburban Farm and at research institutions such as the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. Specific details of her positions have not been disclosed, but her work experience reflects a career combining grassroots service and scientific research.

In a family letter published in December 1949, Luo Ronghua clearly stated: "Serving the people has become a lifelong profession; aside from the allowances provided by the state, I own nothing." This letter has been recorded in multiple documents and is regarded as a model example of China's red family tradition. Ruo Yuying also abides by her father's teachings; under her father's arrangements, her children did not enjoy special privileges and maintained a simple lifestyle. These family background and experiences have had a profound influence on her growth and professional development.
