Yao Mingwei (February 1947 – October 30, 2001) was originally from Guichi County, Anhui Province, born in Fuping, Hebei. He was the former Vice Minister and Party Committee member of the Ministry of Machinery Industry, and the only son of Yao Yilin, a former member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Vice Premier of the State Council.
