Introduction

Li Xiaolu, born June 30, 1982, is from Beijing, China. Her family background is closely connected to the performing arts; several relatives worked in film and acting. Her grandfather was a longtime production director at the Bayi Film Studio of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army. Her father, Li Danning, was a director and actor at the same studio, and her mother, Zhang Weixin, was also an actress. As a result, Li Xiaolu grew up in the Bayi Film Studio environment and began her performing career as a child star.

Her formal acting career began in 1986, when she co-starred with Zhu Shimao in the drama film "I Only Shed Three Tears," thereby officially entering the film and television industry. In 1998, she starred in the film Tianyu (commonly known in English as Xiu Xiu: The Sent-down Girl), playing the female lead Wen Xiu, portraying a character who is both youthful and tragically fated. This role earned her the Best Actress award at the 35th Taiwan Golden Horse Awards and the Best Actress award at a Water City Asian Film Festival in France. In 2000, she played the playful nurse Lin Xiaoru in the youth drama "It’s All the Angels’ Fault," a role that brought her widespread fame.

From 2001 to 2003, Li Xiaolu starred in a series of costume and youth dramas, including "Lü Bu and Diaochan," "Young Heroes: Hong Wending," and "A Youthful Fairy Tale." In 2002 she appeared in television series such as "Thirteen Princesses" and "The Peerless Twins," demonstrating a wide range in character portrayal. That same year, she again attracted broad attention for the drama film Tianyu.

After 2004, Li Xiaolu appeared in numerous film and television works, such as "The River Flows East" and the sister piece to "It’s All the Angels’ Fault," titled "My Naughty Angel." Between 2005 and 2008 her projects spanned urban dramas, action films, and the release of a music EP. In 2009 she appeared in a Hollywood science-fiction film titled "Yineng" (literally "Superpower"), playing a woman with supernatural abilities, which expanded her international influence. That year she also joined multiple film and television projects and participated in a variety of variety shows.

Entering the 2010s, Li Xiaolu remained active in acting, starring in series including "When the Mother-in-Law Meets Mom," "Beauties of the Tang Palace," "The Cooking Detective," and "Mind Reading." She also took part in reality shows and charity activities, cultivating a positive public image. In 2019, the television series "Mind Reading" in which she starred was broadcast.

On the family front, Li Xiaolu was married to actor Jia Nailiang; the couple married in 2012 and had one daughter, but announced their divorce in 2019. Her family members have all worked in the film and performing arts industries, providing a strong foundation for her acting career.
