Introduction

Jia Nailiang was born on April 12, 1979, in Songbei District, Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province, China. His family was well-off economically, but he did not display the habits of a spoiled rich kid from an early age. As a teenager, at 15 he took part in the Shanghai Lishi Star competition and won a consolation prize.

While studying at the Beijing Film Academy (commonly abbreviated as Beiying), he chose a “backpacker” lifestyle, moving among major film studios and production crews in search of acting opportunities. His early life was difficult; he once lived with friends in the Beijing Film Academy residential complex and struggled financially. Even when he could barely afford instant noodles, he insisted on not asking his family for financial support.

Jia began taking part in film and television productions before graduating from the Beijing Film Academy. While at school he contributed money to his class, paying the class fee for the first time (3,000 yuan), and actively participated in class activities, including album and travel projects.

In 2002, Jia starred in his first television drama, Beijing Holiday, playing Mumu, a character who returned to China after studying in Japan, marking his official entry into the entertainment industry. That same year he entered the selection for Sohu Mobile’s fashion image ambassador, advancing to the final six and winning the Most Media-Attention Award and the Best Online Popularity Award.

In 2003 he played his first leading role in the costume drama Da Tang Ge Fei, portraying top scholar Yin Menghe, a turning point in his acting career. That year he also appeared in the crime suspense drama Full of Stars, playing the adopted son of the provincial public security director, who is himself a police officer.

In 2004 Jia appeared in multiple works, including the costume drama The Yang Family’s Tiger Generals and the urban emotional drama Women Don’t Cry, taking on a variety of roles. In 2005 he acted in the costume martial-arts drama The Three Knights of the Turbulent World: Hongfu Woman, in which he took on a villainous role for the first time.

In 2006 his works such as Carving Time, Beautiful Decibels, The 601st Phone Call, and The Green Gem on the Roof were broadcast, earning recognition for his performances. That year he also began working in film, appearing in the movie The 601st Phone Call.

Since then, Jia Nailiang has continued to expand his work across television, film, and variety shows. His notable leading works include The Most Beautiful Time, Bridge of Life and Death, You Are My Life, and Airborne Blade. He is known for a handsome, sunny image and his acting skills are widely recognized.

In terms of public welfare, Jia has actively taken part in charity work, donating to disaster relief and to philanthropic projects for blind children. In his personal life, he married actress Li Xiaolu and they have a daughter. The couple registered their marriage in 2012 and held a wedding that year; they announced their divorce in 2019.

To date, Jia Nailiang has a certain level of influence in both the entertainment and commercial fields. With multiple awards and a range of roles to his name, his professional career continues to develop.
