Introduction
Selbu Teng (Mongolian: Сэвдэн; ?—1667), of the Borjigit clan, from the Mongolian Balan Banner, was a zasu (district governor) in Balin Right Banner and a general in the early Qing Dynasty. He was a great-great-grandson of Genghis Khan, son of Seter.
In the fifth year of Chongde (1640), Selbu Teng paid homage to Emperor Taizu of Qing, Hong Taiqi. The following spring, he paid tribute of sable pelts and camel horses. In the eighth year of Chongde (1643), he led troops to campaign against Jinzhou and Songshan, returning victorious. In the first year of Shunzhi (1644), he accompanied Deputy Commander Bahana and others to defend Shandong and maintain stability. In the third year of Shunzhi (1646), he followed Prince Yu Dodo in pursuing the Sunit tribesman Tengjisi, defeating the Kalhat in Tushitu Khan and the Chagatai Khan reinforcements. In the fifth year of Shunzhi (1648), he was granted the title of Zasag Fugong Gong (Duke of Assistance); in the same year, he married Gurlen Shuhui Gongzhu, daughter of Emperor Taizu, becoming Gurlen Efu (a noble consort). In the seventh year of Shunzhi (1650), in recognition of his father Seter's allegiance to the Qing court, he was elevated to Doroi Junwang (Prince of the first rank of the banner), with a hereditary decree to pass down forever.
Selbu Teng and Princess Gurlen Shuhui had three sons: Ezhier, Gerertu, and Namuza. Ezhier inherited his title of Doroi Junwang. Selbu Teng died in 1667; the exact year of his death is recorded as such.
