Introduction
Akitaro Takeuchi (March 20, 1860 – March 23, 1928), born in Sukumo City, Kochi Prefecture, Japan, was a politician and entrepreneur. He was one of the founders of Komatsu Limited. As the founder of the Faculty of Science and Engineering at Waseda University, he had a certain influence on the development of higher education in Japan during the early period. Akitaro Takeuchi was the eldest son of Tsuneyuki Takeuchi, the older brother of Shigeru Yoshida, and the senior great-uncle of Taro Aso. His son, Kyoichiro Takeuchi, was a professor at Yokohama Higher Industrial School; his grandson, Keiichi Takeuchi, was a geographer, former professor at Hitotsubashi University, and president of the Japan Geographical Society. His great-grandson, Akira Takeuchi, is a reporter for TBS.
