Wang Guangchao, a native of Tianjin, received his medical doctorate from Peking Union Medical College in 1940. He further studied at Columbia University from 1948 to 1949. He has long been engaged in dermatology teaching and research at Peking University Health Science Center and Beijing Medical University. In 1984, he joined the Communist Party of China. He participated in the prevention and treatment of syphilis and promoted penicillin therapy, achieving significant results. He has served as the director of the Chinese Medical Association's Dermatology Branch, editor-in-chief of the "Chinese Journal of Dermatology," and a member of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, among other positions. In 1994, he received the "Taoli Award" from Beijing Medical University, and in 1993, he was granted the State Council Special Allowance. His research areas include the pathogenesis of psoriasis and systemic lupus erythematosus, and he authored the textbook "Dermatology." His family members include his father, Wang Zhichang, and his wife, Yan Renying.
